Kensington Gardens

Due to other work commitments I haven’t been able to have a good look around KG since the end of March. It was good to here several species of warbler singing from around the lake. At the water bodies particularly the Round Pond there was an amazing hatch of a small Mayfly species.

I was glad to see something using the gravel island, other than Greylags and Egyptian Geese.

Not a typical site for a Moorhens nest, I wonder if it the eggs will avoid being a delicacy for a gull.

Enjoying this feast were a couple of juvenile Pied Wagtails and the odd Starling. I don’t think the word was out on how much food there was here and how easy it was to catch or pick up.
