Bushy Park
Another Red letter day in Bushy Park. Two days ago we had a new breeding species with the first successful hatching of Common Shelduck eggs (not seen today). That has been followed by two more first breeding records. The species involved are Cetti’s and Sedge Warbler both within 100 metres of Dukes Head Passage. The Cetti’s young were being fed deep in the scrub close to the viewing screen (unfortunately not open to the public), where as the Sedge Warbler were skulking in the reed bed collecting insects just beyond the scrape.
A pair of Reed Warblers were also collecting food in the same small patch of reeds.
There is also a family of Chiffchaffs by Dukes Head Passage.
It looks as if it this could be a good year for as well.
