Regent’s Park
Winds not really favourable and it seemed fairly quiet when I was in the park from 6.30am to 8.30am. That is apart from the following.
Hobby: a female flew NE at 7.05am.
Sparrowhawk: a female caused a commotion in the Longbridge area when she flew low through the area.
Lesser Whitethroat: one was in area 31.
Common Whitethroat: 2 in area 31 before moving with a flock of warblers and tits into area 32.
Reed Warbler: at least 2-3 birds skulking in reeds in area 32 and 34.
Blackcap: 8 in the Longbridge Sanctuary and Cricket Pen areas.
Willow Warbler: 16 in the same area as the above.
Chiffchaff: 12 seen with the above.
Willow Warblers were the showiest birds when the cloud moved away this morning.
I haven’t seen a species of silver fish other than Perch in the lake for many years, so I was surprised to see this Cormorant catch 3 today without to much effort. If this is a Roach then it is 15 years at least since my last sighting. They used to form big shoals by the bridges particularly when the weather had been hot for a long period and there was a lack of oxygen in the water.
This juvenile Little Owl was looking down at me in Richmond Park on Thursday. The park is a good place to see this species.
