Regent’s Park
One of the Kestrel juveniles had left the safety of the nest box this morning.
This Mandarin was a garden tick, unfortunately it must have been on the Canal as her feathers appear to be covered in a chemical, probably diesel. She also had a bad right leg and chose the quite of my garden to relax in.
Bushy Park
Friday in the park. I had very little time to do any birding as I am still searching for Oak Processionary Moth nests ahead of the nest removal teams coming in next week. I checked a couple of trees by Heron Pond, which not surprisingly gave me a chance to photograph this Heron.
From here I moved on to the area south of Upper Lodge Road. Skylarks a pair of Meadow Pipits are feeding young somewhere in the lush grassland. Starlings are roaming the grassland areas in small flocks feeding on the abundant invertebrates in this habitat.
I was pleased to find evidence of birds breaking into the OPM nests on one tree, hopefully they will find them delicious and want more and more and more…….
This was my 1st Painted Lady for the park this year.
I am not quite sure what this damselfly is devouring.
The deer feeding in the Skylark area help deter people with dogs from entering it, just in case a hind sees it as a threat.
I get annoyed when a fly lands on my head, I certainly wouldn’t want something as large as a Jackdaw on it.
