12th June

I had things to do in Norfolk yesterday which gave me the chance to visit a cracking little warbler that was nest building on the edge of the salt marsh at Burnham Overy Staithe. There was little else around and the lack of any Rape Fields meant that finding a Monties was out of the question.

After leaving the warbler I had a phone call from Dave, he didn’t know that I was in Norfolk. His first question was “have you seen the Spectacled Warbler yet”. “ I was just walking away from it” I replied. It was great to watch it with a group of up to 8 other birders, I hate crowds. Dave, having seen the bird at the weekend also said that they got really good views of a little tern that was fishing on a small pool near the sea wall.

I moved on to Titchwell which was extremely quiet, the best birds being 2 Little Gulls.

I stopped off at Chosely Barns on the way home, no Turtle Doves but a Corn Bunting showed well.
