Yesterday I spent another day up in Norfolk, this time meeting up with 2 friends from Northamptonshire. I/we had never known North Norfolk to be so quiet in mid-May. In the end we only just crawled over the 100 species mark by 1. The highlight for me was Turtle Dove and a pair of Spotted Flycatchers. I have heard the sound of a squeeky wheel, their song for years.

Lapwings seem to having a reasonable breeding season at Cley’s NNT Reserve
Avocet’s on the other hand have had a disastrous time with most eggs being predated on, hopefully the will lay a repeat clutch.
This Sedge Warbler was plucking flies out of the air.
Regent’s Park today
There were 2 youngsters in the nest when I arrived, the other bird was having what was possibly his first bath.
His/hers feathers are clearly not greased up enough yet.
This pair of Moorhens had their moment of passion interrupted by the arrival of one of scruffy’s siblings.
