30th March

Regent’s Park

As it was mothers day, I only had time for a couple of hours in the park from 7.00am. The hoped for rush of early of migrants brought by the SE breeze didn’t occur so I spent the time mostly in area 9 hoping for a flyover raptor or wader. Beforehand I had checked on the Kestrels in area 32 and they are still courting.

This is the largest flycatcher that I have seen, mind you the decaying bits and bobs as well as droppings must attract its fair share. It is also a reason why nest building continues until the young are at the branching stage.

I cannot see this pair succeeding once the rowing boats are in use.
